On this week’s version of Saturday Evening Stay, Martin Brief tried his hand at directing a Charlie Brown Christmas pageant.
“You’re watching Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas,” the sketch begins. “We now return to the animated basic, A Charlie Brown Christmas.“
We reduce to the Charlie Brown children dancing to iconic theme tune “Linus and Lucy” forward of the start of rehearsal, when Martin Brief enters and yells, “Cease dancing!”
“Um, who’re you?” asks a lady performed by Chloe Fineman.
“I’m Drake Tuttle, native theater legend,” Brief replies. “Your principal employed me to direct your pageant.”
“However Charlie Brown’s our director,” says the character of Ashley Padilla.
“And I’m sorry to say he’s useless,” Tuttle says.
This stuns the youngsters, however Tuttle continues, “To me. He’s useless to me…Sorry, I shouldn’t have paused after ‘useless.’ That was my mistake.”
The director then introduces his choreographer, Le’Stat, performed by Bowen Yang, who insists that he’s a genius.
“All proper, first up, some housekeeping,” says Tuttle after some back-and-forth with Le’Stat. “There’ll be no little child performing on this pageant, solely good performing.”
Subsequently, Le’Stat asks the youngsters to audition their hip hop dance abilities for him, just for them to bounce round simply as that they had earlier than, and as each Charlie Brown character has danced all through time.
